Friendly Goat Records opened its doors late in 2002 when BAM began releasing acoustic artists they were working with over the years, so that artists could afford to tour more extensivly on a modest budget via off stage sales.
In the past year FGR has released 2 releases, the first being for Sunshine Coast musicians Diva D and their debut EP "Easy to Use". The Divas have recently returned from China where they toyed with music as the Minx, honing their music to a finely polished pop act. The CD was launch at Woodford Folk Festival in 2002/03 and demand for the record in the weeks that followed was immense. The official release party for the disc sold out and there were a lot of sore heads for days after!
The second release for FGR was Loren's Homebrew, for a soloist who BAM manage and love. Loren recorded the disc at home, with the concept of the album being a true representation of his songwriting in it's most natural form, at home in the bedroom with guitar. The LP's initial goal was to extend his live performance by having a cheap full length, 11 track album available at shows. It is currently being re-mastered and re-artworked for commercial release, which makes the last run of Loren's Homebrew a collectors item, like stamps where the Queens head is upside down, wow!
In 2007 Handy Craft Music was born to licence good Oz bands into the UK with pressing, distrobution and marketing teams behind them. The first release is Lo Slung's "The New Black" an 11 track album featuring a bevvy of guests mixed by J Howes (Faithless, Dido) and Nick Terry (Libertines, Klaxons).
FGR & Handy Craft Music are always looking for interesting projects that have a purpose. If you think you or your project fit the bill, contact the BAM crew via our info link!
